  My Witness

Vol. 13, No. 1, January, 2008

From the Editor
Sr. Jan Nattermann, S.N.C.

Sister Jan You must have knowledge to live out a time of "waiting" when God is working out His plans in your life. God's plans involve a process that moves according to His time. You must trust His Word and commit to it. And then you need to persevere, the topic of this issue of MY WITNESSES.

In those times when God seems far off, it is then, that it is so easy to let up, to fall down and away from God's Word, away from prayer and fall into "giving up."

In these "little whiles" God still expects us to be one with His will, even though we may not 'feel' like it. The Lord loves you so there is no need to fear, Sr. Brigid brings out in this issue of the newsletter.

But we can't live by our feelings. Yes, they are a gage as to what is going on around and within you, and paying attention to your feelings is important. Because once you know where you are, you can pray for those graces to get you to be where you would like to be. If you feel crabby, for example, you may need the grace of a positive attitude.

The "little whiles" of life are not easy to endure. But there are days when God is doing a work in your heart and in your life, even if you don't feel it. They are the days to take courage and to wait in patience. "More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us" (Romans 5:3-5).
