Vol. 1, No. 3, July, 1996

From the Editor
Sr. Jan Nattermann, S.N.C.

Sister Jan When you think of evangelization what first come to mind? Is it telling others the Good News of Jesus Christ? Is it being a good Christian model? Is it both, telling and being Good News? Pope Paul VI says it is both: "The witness of life sooner or later has to be proclaimed by the word of life."

Those who have a personal, intimate knowing of Jesus Christ realize how much they are loved by God and how much better He wants them to become. They want to reach out to others and tell them about this love of God that they have experienced, not just read about. They want to serve others in the way Jesus is servant to all. They want to make a difference in the world and in the church.

The Catholic Evangelization Training Center came into existence to help Catholics first know Jesus in this personal way; to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives who empowers them and sends them into the marketplace to be Jesus to others and tell the Good News of salvation.

One tool we use is the Life in the Spirit Retreat. This retreat has changed many lives because of the new awareness and experience of the Holy Spirit. In the "Letters to the Editor" segment of this issue of "My Witnesses" you can read about the experience of some of the people who were helped by a Life in the Spirit Retreat.
