Parish Missions

In December. 2001 , Sr. Jan and Sr. Brigid gave the parish mission, Healing Life's Hurts, in one parish in Colorado. Between February 18 and March 21, 2002, Sisters Brigid and Jan gave eight parish missions called HEALING LIFE'S HURTS, in Nebraska and Missouri.

Testimonies to the Lord's healing love during the Missions:

  • "The mission has helped me forgive someone. 'Forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling.' That quote helped me be able to forgive. This lack of forgiveness has plagued me for four years. I truly believe now I have forgiven and can go on with my life."

  • "The mission opened my eyes to a much better life in my Church and to be a better person."

  • "When I got to the parish mission I wondered, 'Now what have I gotten myself into.' But then I could feel Jesus' presence in the room. The feeling was so strong I had never felt it before. When I came I could hardly walk and I had a stabbing pain in my lower back. When the mission was finished and I left I had never felt so close to God in my life. I got home, went to bed and wondered if anyone had really been healed. The next morning I know the answer was yes. And it was me! I jumped out of bed and "no pain." It took my breath away. I walked to the kitchen, then out to lunch and did some shopping. All of this had been totally out of the question before the mission."

  • "I had no clue what to expect from this mission. I have never been to anything remotely like it. I am amazed, at peace and I have been given hope. Jesus can do anything! And, it is so simple to pray. I am surprised at the reaction of my family to my coming here. They are excited about this too! We have a family "mission " now!"

Association of the New Covenant

June 2 was the happy occasion of the gathering of the local members of the Association. It was a day of prayer, fun, a meal together, a fast mile walked by those willing and able, and just catching up with what is going on in one another's lives. Birthdays were celebrated too! It is the last gathering for the summer.

Vocations Seminar

Sisters Jan and Brigid were among 200 persons from 24 states and 22 countries who gathered in Indiana April 2-6 to explore ways that religious communities can obtain new members. This was the ninth year that the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, sponsored the workshop, "Awakening: A Rebirth of Enthusiasm in Vocations."
