Vol. 8, No. 4, November, 2003

From the Editor
Sr. Jan Nattermann, S.N.C.

Sister Jan God's word is a source of faith or of renewing one's faith. "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father" (John 14: 1, 12)

Some other passages that bolster one's faith

Hebrews 11:1-40
Acts 1:1-11
Ezekiel 11:14-25
Joel 2:28- 3:8
Acts 2:1-13
Acts 5:17-24

Have you heard this story about faith? One there was a man who was going to cross the Grand Canyon by walking on a tightrope. So first he thought he would practice. He started practicing in his backyard after he strung a rope between two trees. The first time across he used a balance bar and then for a little variety to his act he used a wheelbarrow. His neighbor was watching the man practice. The man was doing so well that he thought he would practice over a nearby river. His neighbor watched him everyday with the bar and the wheelbarrow. The day came for the real thing. Many gathered to watch. Reporters, TV crews, curious onlookers, and his neighbor. The drum roll began. The man took two steps forward, then two steps back, two steps forward and back again two steps, one forward and one back. Then the man announced: "I just can't do it. I lost my nerve." His neighbor tried to encourage him saying, "Go ahead, I've seen you and you can do it. I believe in you. You'll make it." The man on the tightrope answered, "If you believe then get in the wheelbarrow."

Yes, we are called to put our faith into action. (Heb. 12:12).
