Abroad

Sr. Angeline and Sr. Jan left for Poland on July 14, 1997 arriving in Warsaw on July 15. This was not the best of times to be going to Poland. Terrible flooding had occured due to an unusual amount of rain and to the opening up of the dams in the country. And the worst part of the flooding was right in the area around Lubin. The Sisters left Warsaw by car for Lubin which was an eight hour trip due to road closures and the need to take alternate roads which added to the travel time. The Sisters arrived safely in Lubin but exhausted.

ACTS II Board of Directors Meeting.

The ACTS II Board of Directors Meeting began on July 17 and ended on July 20. It was amazing that everyone arrived for this meeting despite the floods. The dedication and commitment of the directors was a great witness to the Sisters.

Follow-Up Leadership Formation Training.

The Annual Follow-Up Leadership Formation Training began on July 22 and ended on July 27. Although many had a longer trip to make and were not sure whether they would be able to get through to Lubin due to the flooding, they all headed out in the direction of Lubin and made it safely and on time for the Training. They came from all parts of Poland: from Gdansk and Gdynia in the northwest part of the country; from Suwalki in the northeast part; Legnica; Warsaw; and Cracow. Forty?one people participated. This certainly gives evidence of the great dedication and commitment of the Polish people to the ACTS II Process and their desire for ongoing training.

Association of the Community of the New Covenant.

On July 27, the last day of the Follow-Up Leadership Formation Training, time was given over to the topic of the Association beginning in Poland.

Meetings.

Many meetings took place from July 28 to August 5 in various parts of Poland: Warsaw, Lomza, Suwalk. Though there were many meetings, everything unfolded to the greater honor and glory of the Lord as work progressed on matters concerning the Association and the ACTS II Process. Many thanks to the translators who made themselves available to the Sisters by travelling with them to the various parts of Poland to translate at the different meetings that were held. The Sisters left Poland from Warsaw on August 6.
